LOCATION SCOUTING
I work with each of my clients to find a beautiful location that fits my photographic style & lighting needs. I also will work to find a location that is relevant to you if you have little ones who are not so great in the car.
CULLING SESSION
In an average family portrait session I will capture anywhere from 350-500 pictures, sometimes more. I then analyze each image and narrow down our collection to our final 85-100 pictures that will be edited.
PHASE 3: SKIN & HAIR RETOUCHING
This process takes place in photoshop. Each of your photos are analyzed and edited individually for skin blemishes, scars, hair retouching, etc. They are also then edited to smooth the skin tones on facial features.
8X10 PRINT INCLUDED
An 8x10 print is included in your gallery. As you scroll through your photos, mark your favorites, then pick your top choice for your print!
WARDROBE ADVICE & STYLING HELP
Most parents and families are concerned with what they wear in the photos. As your photographer I like to remind everyone that clothing is secondary to the joy and love you will see in the photos. I will work with you to add the styling to accentuate our photos.
PHASE 1: EDITING COLOR
My first step in the editing process is creating a color consistency across all images. This will depend on the season and location that best matches the style we are trying to achieve. Example: a Fall Session will have a different color toning than a Spring & Summer Session.
PHASE 4: IMAGE CLEAN UP
This is the process of removing or replacing the following from our final photos: people in the background, lint on clothing, runny noses, droll from teething babies, and grass stains, etc.
POST SESSION HELP WITH PRINT SELECTIONS
Understanding layout and composition it allows me to help you choose the best photos for printing in specific frames. I also help you crop photos if you choose to do so.
1-1.5 HOUR PHOTOSHOOT ON LOCATION
With children and babies, sometimes you may need to stop for a snack and that is okay. I like to give my clients my full time and give at least an hour to capture our best photos. Plus this allows us to hit multiple stops at our location for different backgrounds.
PHASE 2: EDITING TONES
This includes everything from adding contrast, controlling sun haze and matching skin tones. Adding brightness in one area vs. darkening to another area. It’s very important that as you go through your gallery there is a cohesive look to all of the photographs.
BUILDING YOUR ONLINE GALLERY
You will receive a link your own online gallery. All Photos can be downloaded here and prints can be ordered as well. It’s accessible to whoever you would like to share it with!
